Kathy Wang is a visionary spatial designer, technologist, and artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She specializes in designing AR/VR interfaces, interactions, and immersive experiences at the dynamic intersection of reality and virtual worlds. Kathy has consistently excelled in her field, winning the prestigious MIT Reality Hackathon from 2017 to 2020. Additionally, her works have been showcased at premier AR/VR conferences such as ACM CHI, SIGGRAPH, SXSW, AWE, and VR Awards. And Kathy has also received top-tiered design awards such as Red Dot, IDEA Silver, and A’ Design Award, among others.
Beyond her creative pursuits, Kathy is deeply committed to nurturing the XR community. She shares her wealth of knowledge through guest lectures at prestigious institutions like USC, UC Berkeley, California State Fullerton, and Stony Brook University. Additionally, she leads transformative workshops at the art organization Gray Area that inspire fellow professionals in the field. Kathy's influence extends to shaping the trajectory of XR technology through her jury work, serving on prestigious panels such as SIGGRAPH 2024, MIT Reality Hack, UC Berkeley AR Challenge, and Cal Hacks 10.0. Her involvement as a UC Berkeley MDes Application Reviewer also underscores her dedication to fostering emerging talent in the field.
